Improvement Details

DetailsCourse order was changed to focus on climate change and pollution in the first half of the course and geologic hazards in the second half. This was based on student response and interest in previous semesters.

A new book was used that was more approachable and also more affordable.

New assignments were introduced that as a part of the environmental sustainability learning community for this course.

New exam format was introduced -- part multiple choice, part essay to give students the opportunity to describe what they know.

Assessment Methods

MethodsExam questions throughout the semester were used to gauge student understanding of outcomes. This was in addition to regular quizzes, concept sketches, papers and in class work.
