Improvement Details
Details | I tried a new textbook this semester--it is the "brief" edition of the book we're used for many years. Students seemed to like the shorter book, but I'm not sure it provides enough detail for students. |

Assessment Methods
Methods | I mainly use exams to access the learning outcomes of the course, although performance on the two written assignments reveals those students who are grasping the material more deeply. |

Assessment Data Discussion and Analysis
Term | Fall 2013 |
---|---|
How and With Whom | Because I'm currently the only instructor of this course, most of the analysis is mine alone. However, a different instructor will be teaching the course in the spring 2014 semester, so we've had discussions about assignments and lectures already. |
Number Assessed | 50 |
Data Summary | This course has a high success rate for students who show up to class and complete all of the assignments. Only 3 out of the 43 students who completed the course did not pass--this success rate is a bit higher than in some past semesters, reflecting an unusually good group of students. |
Planned Improvements | The course has been taught for a long time and so is well refined. After our new instructor teaches the course in the spring, we'll discuss changes that might be made. |

Future Plans
Term | Spring 2014 |
---|---|
Activities | Revision of outcomes and assessment methods (measurements), Assessment (measurement) of outcomes, Analysis and discussion of assessment data and next steps |
Details | I don't think any major changes will be needed, but after the spring semester, the two of us will discuss what works well in the course, as well as things that could be improved. |
