Improvement Details

DetailsThis semester the two instructors agreed to assess a different outcome than the three that were assessed in past semesters. From the official course outline of record, we assessed SLO B: "Compare the types of security markets and their respective characteristics".

Also, data on homework results, and not solely exam results were analyzed.

Data SummaryFor SLO B, we stayed with our original learning level rubric of A) Analyze/Evaluate, B) Understand/Apply and C) Knowledge/Recall.

The average for the two sections were:

43% of the classes achieved rubric level A, 32% achieved level B, 15% achieved level C and 10% didn't achieve even the lowest level C.
Planned ImprovementsGiven the priority the Curriculum Committee attached this semester to updating only outlines that were more than 10 years old, I wasn't able to update the outline to change some 23 learning objectives into the 5 planned. This work will be done Spring 2014 and will result in a better paradigm to judge outcomes from semester to semester.

Other than that, the instructors are pleased with the above results of the admittedly limited scope of assessment this semester (SLO B).
