Assessment Methods

MethodsAnalysis of test cumulative final exam results linked to specific learning outcomes. The 100 final exam questions were categorized into a matrix of 12 which includes four SLO and a rubric of three learning levels for each SLO. Rubric A is Analyze/Evaluate, B is Understand/Apply and C is Knowledge/Recall.

Data SummaryI compared Fall '12 vs. Fall '13 percentage of students having correct answers to the final exam questions that are mapped to the four assessed SLOs and their two respective applicable learning level rubrics.

SLO E: for level B percentage correct remained static at 87% for both Fall '12 and Fall '13. For level C percentage correct improved from 78% in Fall '12 to 85% in Fall '13.

SLO I: For level B percentage correct improved from 82% in Fall '12 to 86% in Fall '13. For level C percentage correct improved from 86% in Fall '12 to 90% in Fall '13.

SLO L: For level B percentage correct improved from 63% in Fall '12 to 69% in Fall '13. For level C percentage correct improved from 81% in Fall '12 to 88% in Fall '13.

SLO O: For level B percentage correct improved from 76% in Fall '12 to 100% in Fall '13. For level C percentage correct improved from 80% in Fall '12 to 86% in Fall '13.
Planned ImprovementsOutcomes for SLO L, financial performance metrics, while improved from Fall '12, is still problematic (below 70%). More lecture time and homework needs to take place in Fall 2014 for this SLO with the objective of improving outcomes.
